Father's Day 2012 is a celebration honoring fathers and their contributions to parenting and family. Fathers Day is always celebrated on the third Sunday of June. The holiday started in Fairmont, West Virginia in 1908 when Mrs. Grace Clayton organized a day to honor the lives of over 200 men that had died in a mining disaster a few months prior. The holiday was officially signed into law by President Nixon in 1972, and it was made an official holiday at this time. Fathers Day 2012 is expected to be highly commercialized as an improving economy means more disposable income to spend on gifts and meals out.
